Match report The second eleven entertained Cavaliers on 21st May, and were subjected to a heavy defeat. Batting first Cavaliers posted 265 for 5, with opener Vinter scoring an unbeaten 80. The one bright light of the Mersea bowling performance was that of debutant Steve Smith who bowled fifteen overs and returned 3 for 52. Kai Cresswell (1 for 32) and Rory Green (1 for 38) were the other wicket takers.
In reply, Mersea never got near the target being bowled out for 69, of which Angus Lockhart (18) was the only player to reach double figures.
