Match report The promotion push for the Two Counties 1st XI is all but over following a five wicket defeat at Long Melford 2nds on 8th August. Mersea never really recovered from a horror start that saw them collapse to 13 for 4, and then 27 for 5, including three ducks in the top four batsmen. Luke Conway attempted a counter attack fight back, smashing 52 which included three sixes, but with only Cam Williams (14) reaching double figures, Mersea were bowled out for a disappointing 102. In reply, Melford made steady progress towards the target, and despite excellent spells from Darren Rumble (3 for22 from 9) and Conway (1 for 24 from 12) victory was fairly straightforward for the home side.
