Match report After two excellent wins against the top two sides in the Two Counties Division Six to open up the title race, Mersea went into their game with Felixstowe Corinthians on July 26th buoyant and looking for a win to consolidate their championship push. Mersea made the perfect start as Felixstowe lost both openers without a run on the board. Thereafter, wickets fell steadily throughout the afternoon, with Darren Rumble (5 for 22 from 12) the most successful bowler. Luke Conway came into the attack late in the innings and finished off proceedings with a spell of 3 for 6 from just eleven balls, as Felixstowe were bowled out for just 112. Mersea were three down in reply for just 29, before David Taylor (27) and Chris Storrar (11) put on 31 to take the score to 60 for 4. However, with no one able to stay with Taylor wickets fell too regularly and when Taylor was seventh man out, Mersea were still 30 runs short of the target. Matt Wilkin (16) edged Mersea towards the target, but with the side just three runs short of the target he gloved a lifting ball to the wicketkeeper to see Mersea bowled out for 109.
