Match report Not for the first time this season the TC second eleven got themselves into a good position in the game, and then let their opponents off the hook. Kelvedon 3rd eleven were the visitors on 8th August, and batting first laboured to 126 for 9 with eleven overs remaining. Ed Gibson with a maiden five wicket haul (5 for 57) and Peter Phillips (3 for 43) the chief wicket takers. However, the ninth wicket pairing of Morrell (61no) and Barton (28no) put on an unbeaten stand of 74 to lift the total to 200 for 9. Peter Phillips (23) and Henry Gayton (15) got Mersea off to a solid enough start with 43 for the first wicket, but thereafter, wickets fell regularly with only Bob Handford (24no) and Darren Hewett (14) making any other scores of note. Mersea were eventually dismissed in the 40th over for 119.
