Match report Plenty of runs at The Glebe on 4th June, where there was a first ever meeting with Yoxford. Mersea batted first and were soon up and running with James Rutter and Gareth Mason (45 from 42 balls) putting on 78 for the first wicket. Chris Storrar added a rapid 22, before skipper Conway joined Rutter and the pair smashed 123 in little over thirteen overs. Conway hitting a 36 ball fifty on his way to 65, while Rutter completed his third century of the season eventually being dismissed for a career best 117. Mersea posting their highest score of the season with 283 for 7.
Yoxford made a good effort at the chase, with the game seeming to hinge on their skipper David Driver - he scored 109 before Ben Rumble (2 for 75) tempted him out of the crease for a stumping for James Rutter. Luke Conway (2 for 47) and Darren Rumble (1 for 56) were the other wicket takers as the visitors closed on 222 for 6.
