West Mersea Cricket Club

Sad to report this morning the passing of a local cricket legend, and former West Mersea player Lloyd Rayner, after a short battle with cancer. Lloyd played most of his career at Halstead Cricket Club scoring over 21,000 runs for them, but between 1991 and 1993 he played three seasons with West Mersea. The left handers most successful season was in 1993, when he scored 501 runs which included five centuries, with a best of 85 not out against Earls Colne.
