Review of the Month of May

Well that is the first month of the 2022 season completed ;

24 matches arranged - 10 won, 11 lost and 3 cancelled - the first team are currently second in Division 7, the second team are bottom of Division 9, and the Sunday team top the NECL Division 2.

51 players have so far played for the club at senior level, of which 10 have made their Mersea debut.

James Rutter and Ben Rumble have had a stellar month with bat and ball - James scoring a record 533 runs in the month, which saw him also achieve the feat of quickest to 500 runs (28th May). Previous was Luke Conway in 2012, June 4th

Ben Rumble took 25 wickets in the month - which is also the quickest to that landmark by a Mersea player (28th May). Previous was Mick Laver in 1971, May 30th.

There have been two centuries and seven fifties scored in the month - of which James has 1 century and 5 fifties. There have been 3 five wicket hauls and 11 three wicket hauls, with not surprisingly Ben Rumble claiming 1 five wicket and 4 three wicket.

Topping the Batting Averages (5 inns) is James Rutter - 76.14

Topping the Bowling Averages (20 ovs) is Dan Gladwell - 3.62

Outstanding individual performance in the month was back on the opening day, April 16th, with Dan Gladwell claiming memorable figures of 9 for 2 in the first team victory over Copdock & Old Ipswichians.

24 sixes have so far been hit, with Luke Conway (9) and James Rutter (8) currently leading the table.

There have been 44 ducks to date, with Ed Vandermark and Seb Gladwell (5 points) leading the early race, with Ruben and Tony Butler in close attendance on 4 points.

Leading fielder is James Rutter with 9 catches (8 at the wicket) and five stumping, while the leading outfielder is Luke Conway who has five dismissals (4 catches and 1 run out)
