Match report The second eleven entertained Witham 3rds on the second pitch, and suffered another heavy defeat. Batting first Rory Green (31) and Kevin Hewes got the islanders off to a fairly comfortable start reaching 46 for 1 in the 15 overs. However, thereafter Witham applied the screw, Peter Phillips struggling to a 33 ball duck. Steve Smith (12) gave Hewes (35) some support but Mersea were eventually bowled out in the 43rd over for 101. In reply Stuart Facey (72no) dominated the reply, with Witham reaching their target at the beginnings of the 19th over.
