West Mersea Cricket Club Lost by 6 wickets

Match report The first XI made the long trip to Worlington on 29th April, with just nine players. Unsurprisingly, the hosts won the match comfortably enough, but Mersea did at least put a score on the board. Batting first, Peter Phillips (24) and David Taylor (13) put on 30 for the first wicket. Dan Lambert (36) not for the first time was the highest scorer in the opening game of the season - it is all downhill from now on. Luke Conway smashed a rapid 27, which included the first sixes of the season as Mersea were bowled out in 43rd over for 145.
In reply, Worlington eased to a six wicket victory in 24 overs, Tom Sanderson, Rory Green and Dan Lambert each claiming a wicket.
The 9 hardy boys of Mersea made the 60 mile journey to Worlington. Fortunately our opponents could not have been more accommodating allowing us to bat first. Some solid batting saw us use the majority of our 45 overs and posted a reasonable total. Moments of the day Luke hitting his second & third balls of the season for 6!!! Somethings don't change. Rory fielding off his own bowling on a regular basis. Lambo having to leave the field for a few minutes!
