Match report Not the best of starts for the Two Counties first eleven, as they travelled to Kirby to play Frinton thirds in scorching Bank Holiday weather and with only ten men. Frinton won the toss and unsurprisingly elected to bat. Steve Smith took the first wicket of the season, but then in the middle of his fifth over bowled a second 'over waist height' no ball, which saw him automatically removed from the attack. Debutant Will Sanderson replaced him and bowled tidily without success. The wickets were shared between Luke Conway (2 for 33 off 11), Darren Rumble (4 for 53 of 13) and Ben Rumble (2 for 19 off 4) as Frinton eventually closed at 205 for 9. In reply, Mersea never threatened the Frinton total with David Taylor (19) and Steve Smith (17) top scoring. Graham Pryke (10) was the only other player to reach double figures as Mersea were rolled over for 73 in 31 overs.
