Match report Mersea's woes in the Two Counties Division Seven continue, with a heavy defeat at home to East Bergholt 2nds, condemning them to bottom of the division. Mersea's problems were compounded by only having nine men available. Mersea batted first and highlight of the innings was an opening stand of 70 between Peter Phillips (25) and David Taylor. Taylor was eventually sixth man out for his third half century, falling for 51, as Mersea succumbed in the 37th over for 101. In reply, the Bergholt openers made light work of the target with an unbeaten century off one ball short of ten overs. Will Harris (52no) and Nick Philpott (45no) seeing the visitors to a ten wicket success
