West Mersea Cricket Club Lost by 9 wickets

Match report Mersea made the long trip to Mildenhall and at least gleaned maximum batting points on an excellent batting track. Unfortunately, they were a little too benevolent in the field, dropping a number of chances as the hosts raced to victory in under 30 overs. A third wicket stand of 91 between David Taylor and Luke Conway (40) seemed to put Mersea on course for a big total. Taylor went on to top score with 87, before becoming sixth man out on 158 with fifteen overs remaining. Allan Highfield (21) and Tom Sanderson (18) added some good tailend runs but Mersea were dismissed in the 42nd over for 207. In reply the Mildenhall openers benefitted from a number of chances going down by putting on 173 for the first wicket. Henry Gayton claimed the solitary wicket to fall, that of Ellis for 59, while Renouf went onto record an unbeaten 122 as the hosts coasted to a nine wicket success.
