Match report Get the bunting out the seconds have their first win of 2018, following a six wicket success at the Promenade Park against Maldon 4th. Losing the toss for the first time this season, Mersea were subjected to an afternoon in the field, however, a dramatic opening made their task easier as Roger Goodwin (3 for 8) and Elliott Drage (2 for 36) reduced the hosts to 5 for 5 - and Mersea in seventh heaven. Daniel Youngman (2 for 41) and Bob Handford (2 for 23) were also amongst the wickets as Maldon recovered to 82 for 9, before an unbroken tenth wicket stand of 45 lifted them to 127 for 9. In reply, Mersea made a strong start through Youngman (27) and Graham Pryke, with 52 for the first wicket. Pryke (30) and Ian Young (22) then took Mersea into the nineties, before both fell in a spate of three wickets. Elliott Drage (23no from 26) and Roger Goodwin (7no) eased any worries as Mersea moved to victory with 11 overs in hand.
