West Mersea Cricket Club Lost by 2 wickets

Match report The second eleven ended their campaign with a thrilling game at Eight Ash Green, eventually losing out by 2 wickets. Mersea batted first and posted a middling 135 for 5, of which Ian Young (53no) top scored with his fifth half century of the season. Allan Highfield (23) put in a useful shift at the top of the order. In reply, Eight Ash Green lost two early wickets with just 4 runs on the board. Lead by M Norris (38) they progressed to 82 for 3, before Amit Tiwari (6 for 45) instigated a dramatic collapse as the home side slumped to 87 for 8. However, that was Mersea's last success as C McDonald (16no) and S Collins (26no) combined to put on an unbroken ninth wicket stand of 49 to see the home side to a win.
