Match report Mersea began their 2015 campaign with a Two Counties Division Six encounter at Rye Mill Lane, against Kelvedon & Feering seconds. Winning the toss Luke Conway inserted Kelvedon, and the move paid dividends as the hosts made slow progress against a steady opening attack of Darren Rumble and Luke Bruce - both bowled eleven over spells to return 1 for 24, and 1 for 23 respectively. At the half way stage Kelvedon, were just past the 50 mark with three wickets down. Luke Conway (2 for 30 from 11) and Jon O'regan (2 for 62) from 12 delivered much the same as Kelvedon were eventually restricted to 146 for 8. In reply, Adam Rutter (48) and Digs Taylor (17) gave the islanders a solid enough start putting on 43 for the first wicket. A further 36, was put on by Rutter and Bruce, before the former was caught. There then ensued a mini collapse as Mersea lost three wickets on 87, Chris Rayner for a golden duck, and James Tilsley for a two ball duck. However, that was the last success of the afternoon for Kelvedon as Bruce (37no) and a fluent Dan Lambert (39no) saw Mersea to a six wicket victory in 35th over.
