Match report On Saturday, the firsts were looking to remain unbeaten against Eight Ash Green, who also were unbeaten going into the game. Eight Ash Green won the toss and making use of overhead conditions elected to bowl. Mersea struggled to score fluently, with only Adam Rutter (28) making a significant contribution in the top order. Chris Storrar added a lively 20 from just seven balls (2 fours and 2 sixes) and Luke Conway finished as top scorer with 34, however, Mersea were bowled out in 38th over for a middling 153, and had gifted the Green a crucial seven extra overs. Mersea got themselves back into the game through the bowling of Cam Williams (2 for 31) and Christ Storrar (3 for 18 from 15 overs), and reduced the home side to 41 for 7 at one stage. Green skipper Ali Hammond (45no) and Mark Goodall (54) then steered the hosts to the verge of victory before Luke Conway (2 for 32) reduced them to 148 for 9. An edgy last over (the 52nd of their innings) saw the Green level the scores by the fifth ball, and a boundary off the last ball saw them clinch a one wicket win.
