Match report Bank holiday Monday saw the seconds take their chance at their Eight Ash Green counterparts. The Green batted first in this encounter, and posted a competitive 223 for 6 from their 45 overs. Richard Polley (94) was unlucky not to reach a century for the Green, while Mersea’s best bowler on the afternoon was Rory Green who bowled fourteen overs to return 3 for 64. Rory (31) and debutant Steve Chambers (42) gave Mersea a solid enough start putting on 72 for the first wicket. However, with only Ian Young (22) topping twenty the innings petered out as Mersea were restricted to 151 for 6, and defeat by 72 runs.
