Match report The Two Counties first eleven went into action on July 18th at home to league leaders Eight Ash Green, knowing anything but a win would probably see there promotion hopes finished. The visitors won the toss and batted first and were soon struggling against some good Mersea bowling. Matt Wilkin (2 for 38 from 10) made the early inroads, before Luke Bruce (2 for 22 from 9) and Luke Conway (4 for 14 from 7) saw the Green collapse to 134 all out. In reply Adam Rutter (69) and Luke Bruce (51no) put on a second wicket stand of 81 to see Mersea to a comfortable eight wicket victory, which has opened up both the promotion and title race.
