Match report The second’s were arguably in a losing situation at the Colchester Rugby Club, as they had fielded first in the game with Cavaliers. Callum Drage bowled tidily for the islanders at the beginning of the innings and was unlucky not to take more than the single wicket he claimed, on a wicket that was offering assistance. Kevin Hewes (0 for 47 from 13) bowled with some economy, and was also unlucky not to put a number in the wickets column. Jon Hewett’s spell of 4 for 47, had Cavaliers in a spot of bother at 159 for 5 with ten overs remaining, before Elliston (28no) and Ahmed (42no) put on an unbeaten stand of 79 to take Cavaliers to 233 for 5. The rain became more persistent during the tea interval, and with a pitch inspection at 5.15pm it was decided to call the game off.
