Match report The second eleven travelled to Tendring to play West Bergholt 2nd in their final game, and enjoyed a rare success. It was a battle of attrition early on as Peter Phillips (31) and Trevor Vince ground out an opening stand of 40 in 20 overs. Ian Young (50) and Tom Sanderson, his maiden fifty for the club (51) then upped the tempo as Mersea closed at 169 for 5. In reply, West Bergholt made the worst of starts as they lost their opener to run out from Amit Tiwari in the first over without a run on the board. Peter Phillips (5 for 21 from 15 overs) and Tiwari (2 for 48 from 15) ensured that Bergholt were well behind the run rate as they were bowled out for 86.
