Match report St Margarets had suffered the ignominy of defeat by Mersea 2nds a fortnight earlier and were in no mood for repeat on 10th July.
Batting first they clocked up 250 for 5, with M Higgs (101no) and M Canham (64) putting of 139 for the fourth wicket. Amit Tiwari (2 for 36) was pick of the bowlers, while there was a wicket each for Stuart Elson (1 for 48) and Tony Oram (1 for 22).
In reply, Amit was promoted to the top of the order as he attempted to reach 500 career runs, unfortunately he was dismissed for 5 to leave him still short of the milestone. Mick Laver 13no and a career best 17 from Stuart Elson who hit a six in his innings were the only players to reach double figures as Mersea were restricted to 97 for 9 and defeat by 153 runs. The score of 97 also left them 3 runs agonisingly short of the Cornetto 100.
