Match report A midweek friendly at Abberton saw a Mersea XI take on the New Inn. The hosts posted 143 for 4 from their 20 overs, with Sea Gladwell (2 for 24), Matthew Williamson (1 for 4) and Ben Rumble (1 for 12) picking up the wickets.
In reply, James Rutter made a lively 26 before having to retire, including a six on to the windscreen of Matthew Williamson's car. Luke Conway made 17, and young debutant Jesse Elson (11), whilst the Mallard trophy saw more action with Ben Rumble, Louis Elson, Matthew Williamson and Rosie Daines all adding points to their totals. Mersea eventually reached 94 for 9, and defeat by 49 runs.
The match also marked a 50th club appearance for Jack Luckman.
