Match report After two cancellations and a concession it was fourth time lucky for the Evening League side as they entertained Elmstead at The Glebe. Batting first Mersea got over the shock of losing Luke Conway to a golden duck fourth ball, with James Rutter continuing his rich vein of form with an unbeaten 88 at the top of the order. The score saw him break the record for the most runs scored in a calendar month, passing Luke Conway's 452 set in September 2007. Partnership of 32 with debutant Corin Haines (13) and 48 with Rory Green (24 from 14 balls) saw Mersea post a total of 160 for 6.
In reply, Elmstead openers Greg Morgan (32) and John Wilson (20) put on a useful opening stand, but once that was broken wickets started to fall in rapid succession. Ben Rumble (4 for 10) was the most successful, but there were wickets for 6 of the 8 bowlers, with Rory Green (2 for 5) the next best. Elmstead were bowled out for 97, and defeat by 63 runs.
