West Mersea Cricket Club Lost by 8 wickets

Match report The battle of the Blackwater saw a comfortable victory for our hosts, who had dispatched Copford by a nine wicket margin the previous week. Brightlingsea won the toss and inserted West Mersea, who sure enough lost Adam Rutter, playing his first game in six years, to a two ball duck. Mersea were reduced to 19 for 3, with James Rutter a late call up with a broken thumb scoring 12. Stuart Elson (26), Luke Conway (13) and Seb Gladwell (9) took the score to 74 for 5, with Elson and Gladwell putting on 37 for the fifth wicket. However, thereafter Brightlingsea skipper Jack French (4 for 10) ran through the tail as Mersea were bowled out for 87. Ellis Humphreys (1 for 17) and Joe Wyatt (1 for 12) claimed the two Brightlingsea wickets to fall, before Rowan Hunt (41no) guided his team to victory.
