Match report For the third consecutive game there was another nail biting finish, this time at Mildenhall. Batting first after losing the toss, Mersea made good progress with Adam Rutter and Seb Gladwell (33) putting on a century stand for the first wicket. Rutter continued to dominate proceedings after Gladwell was dismissed and fashion a partnership of 52, with Luke Conway (14) for the second wicket to see Mersea handily placed with 10 overs to go. However, with Rutter falling shortly afterwards for 90, the innings tailed off with just 38 runs taken from the last ten overs to see Mersea reach 190 for 7 at the break.
In reply, Mildenhall made a stuttering start slipping to 38 for 3, with Joe Wyatt (2) and Dan Miller (1) picking up the wickets. At 51 for 4, it seemed Mersea were in the ascendancy, before a 70 run partnership between Taylor and Abdulla Jadoon turned the game back in favour of the hosts. Conway (2 for 45) broke the partnership and with Ollie Wyatt in tandem were able to get some control on proceedings, however at 170 for 5 the game was Mildenhalls to lose. Seb Gladwell (2 for 18) then picked up two wickets, one to an excellent catch by Ruben Butler, and with Jim Hall making a run out the hosts were eight down going into the last over with one required for victory. Joe Wyatt held his nerve by bowling four dot balls and then take a wicket on his fifth ball. One ball later he dismissed the number 11, to return a double wicket maiden and excellent figures of 4 for 31 as the match ended in a thrilling tie.
