Match report A strong first eleven took on a struggling Worlingworth side at The Glebe, determined to get back to winning ways after a humbling 9 wicket defeat last week. Ollie Wyatt was the only regular missing from the eleven, opting for Football Cup Final glory...which unfortunately ended in a heavy defeat ! Mersea batted first after losing the toss, and saw Adam Rutter and Seb Gladwell post their second century stand of the season, this time reaching 159 before Gladwell was dismissed for 62. Adam Rutter was the second wicket to fall was the second wicket to fall, when a century was there for the taking, caught behind for 98, his second dismissal in the nineties this season. Small cameos from Marcus Hobson, Luke Conway (23), including his 15000th career run and Angus Lockhart (25) eventually saw Mersea up to 260 for 7. Worlingworth were never in the frame with the run chase, with Joe Wyatt (1 for 25), Matt Wilkin (1 for 14), Conway (2 for 10 from 9) and Chris Storrar (2 for 24) bowling economically. Adam Rutter claimed three catches at the wicket, to cement an excellent all round performance for himself, as Worlingworth reached 127 for 7 from their 45 overs, with Ed Parker 65 not out. Mersea won by 133 runs.
