Match report A day to forget on the 1st May, as the Two Counties campaign began with heavy away defeats for the both the first and second team. The first team travelled to Bury St Edmunds to play their 3rd XI. There were club debuts for Mayur Munshi and Harry Fuller, while there were league debuts for Callum Jackson, Joe Wyatt and Seb Gladwell. The home side won the toss and elected to bat and were soon scoring rapidly, with the openers putting on 121 for the first wicket. Luke Conway (1 for 64) made the breakthrough, but that just brought Ben Moyle to the crease who smashed 29 fours and a six in an unbeaten 152. He was given good support from Simon Aldous (82) and Ian Plumb (60no) as Bury reached 367 for 2. Special mention should be given to youngsters Seb Gladwell (1 for 34) and Joe Wyatt who stuck at it with the ball despite the onslaught.
The Mersea reply was over in 17 overs, with Luke Conway (a rapid 27) including his 600th career six the only highlight. Mersea bowled out for 57, and defeat by 110 runs
