West Mersea Cricket Club Lost by 25 runs

Match report The T30 side were back in action on Sunday with a home game against Coggeshall. The visitors batted first and were reduced to 32 for 4, with Louis Elson (2-19) amongst the wickets. Joe Wyatt (1-3) and guest debutant Callum Peel-Shankar (1-8) also bowled a tight spells at the beginning of the innings. The Coggeshall score was lifted by a half century from skipper Andrew Uthwate-Bouverie. Mersea used 10 bowlers in the innings and with skipper James Rutter (2-7) towards the back end of the innings, including his 125th club wicket, the score was held to a respectable 123 for 8.
Mersea in reply were undone early, being reduced to 8 for 4, with Lillie Uthwate-Bouverie (4-10) the principal wicket taker. Mersea recovered with a 60 run partnership between James Rutter and Louis Elson. Rutter retired at 50, and despite a career best from Elson (25no), Mersea were restricted to 98 for 7.
