Match report James Rutter celebrated his 300th appearance for the club, with his sixth century of the season, which also took him past the July monthly record of 344, now standing at 407. Bottom club Haverhill 3rds were the visitors to the Glebe, and after Mersea won the toss they made hay in the sunshine. Rutter and David Taylor posting a record first wicket stand for the Two Counties First Eleven of 203. Rutter was dismissed for 101, and Luke Conway fell shortly afterwards for 1. However, Kiwi Mason joined Taylor and the pair put on a rapid unbroken stand of 61 in the latter overs to see Mersea reach 270 for 2. Taylor went through to his seventh career century to be undefeated on 105, while Mason hit 36 from just 28 balls.
Skipper Conway had to be away early, so bowled his twelve over straight through, returning 2 for 25, while Ben Rumble (4 for 55) and Darren Rumble (3 for 35) were also amongst the wickets as Haverhill were bowled out for 152 in the 40th over.
