Match report A big ask for the twos at promotion chasing Halstead 3rd ended in perhaps the inevitable ten wicket defeat. Mersea were soon in trouble after electing to bat first with openers Tony Butler and Louis Elson returned to the pavilion with just 2 runs on the board. Debutant Daniel Common (15) top scored for the islanders, and there were some gritty knocks by the lower order to see Mersea get through their 40 overs and record 63 for 8. Ollie Wyatt was unbeaten on 7 from 51 balls, with Jesse Elson, Seb Gladwell and John Clarke all putting in shifts late in the innings.
In reply, the Halstead openers James Tyson (35no) and Adam Morris (25no) saw their side to victory in just seven overs.
