Match report The seconds battled the Ride London event and took a trip to Witham 4ths, again a late struggle for a full side saw Ben call upon Dad Darren Rumble to make the numbers up - Darren having retired at the end of the 2022 season. The home side batted first and were indebted to a top score of 67 from opener Jack Burrows for the majority of their total, only Cara Taylor (10no) reaching double figures, and the last five batters falling for a duck in their total of 141. Amit Tiwari was the most successful bowler with an impressive 6 for 54, his second best bowling figures for the club, while Darren Rumble rolled back the years with 3 for 9, to move up to 11th in the all time list of wicket takers for Mersea with 575. If Mersea thought the hard work was done in the field, they were up for a rude awakening as they slumped to 19 for 6, of which Jon Snelling (10) top scored. Dan Miller hit a career best 33, which included three maximums, as a valiant rearguard, but with Ryan O'Callaghan taking 5 for 14 for Witham, the seconds were skittled out for 63 and defeat by 78 runs.
