On the 4th February it was a case of losing too many wickets in the Terrier Game with Ardleigh. All the Mersea batters, except Tony Butler reached double figures, with Ruben Butler 23 for 1, Dave Gladwell 21 for 0 the top scorers. However, with Mersea losing eight wickets and therefore 40 runs, their total of 107 for 8 was reduced to net 67. Ardleigh were more controlled in their scored as they reached 107 for 2 (Net 97), with Seb Gladwell again taking the only wicket, the other being a Dave Gladwell run out. Gladwell's two overs also went for an economic six runs, as Ardleigh shut up shop to avoid losing wickets, and win by 30 runs.
