Match report The friendly with Maldon 4th on the second pitch, saw Mersea defeated by 93 runs. Maldon batted first and posted 145 for 6, with Rosie Daines (2 for 13) and Dave Gladwell (2 for 12) both picking up a pair of wickets. Mersea used three young lads as wicketkeepers and all performed admirably, Wahed Khaksar taking a catch, and Asmat Khaksar and Bilal Omari both keeping the byes at bay.
In reply Mersea were dismiised for 52, of which Omari (15) was the only player to reach double figures - Brandon Turner turned out for the visitors and bowled a tidy spell of 2 for 17 from 8 overs, while another highlight was Trevor Trout volunteering to play for Maldon and sporting a pristine ironed Maldon shirt - we are just wondering how many more club shirts he will have this year to guest for other teams.
