Match report The stop start season in the Evening League saw Mersea score their first success of the campaign with a thumping win over West Bergholt at The Glebe. Mersea bowled first and scored an early victory with Joe Wyatt claiming the wicket of the prolific Mersea man James Rutter for just 4, to a catch at the wicket. Luke Conway snaffled a second wicket shortly afterwards, but it wasnt until Chris Storrar (3 for 18) breaking the third wicket partnership was introduced that the wickets began to tumble. Juwan Malindu (2 for 15) and Ollie Wyatt (3 for 20), inclduing a hat trick in the 13th over joined the party as the visitors slumped to 111 all out at the end of the 14th over. Mersea were on the front foot right from the getgo with Ben Tinham (32) and Ruben Butler (28 from 31) putting on an opening stand of 63 in seven overs. When Bergholt were able to dismiss the openers, Juwan Malindu (20no) and Chris Storrar (16no) made the eight wicket victory very comfortable, reaching the target in the middle of the 13th over.
