So Saturday's 1st XI match against Chappel & WC 2nd saw plenty of runs, a thrilling finish and some club records broken.

Thankfully, due to the diligence of the Chappel scorer, scoring on Play-Cricket I am able to recreate the match - ball by ball - using the Linear Scoring Method.

Records broken were James Rutter and Darren Rumble opening stand of 297, a club record for all wickets.

James Rutter breaking the West Mersea Two Counties 1st XI seasonal aggregate of 793, set by Adam Rutter in 2015. The new tally with five games still to go is 950, following his career best 180 not out.

Darren Rumble the club's resident number eleven, also hit a career best 105 - his second career century.

Luke Conway equalled the West Mersea Two Counties 1st XI seasonal record of 35 wickets, with his solitary success on Saturday, while Ben Rumble is also in with a chance having taken 32 wickets following is five for.
