Match report The 2nd XI began their league campaign in equally humiliating style with an almost identical result at Brightlingsea. Graham Pryke had plenty of debutants on show, with Gareth Mason, Matthew Williamson, Simon Swann, Tony and Ruben Butler all making their first club appearance. The home side won the toss and batted first. Amit Tiwari claimed two relatively cheap wickets on his way to figures of 2 for 64, before unbeaten centuries by Colin French (150) and Rowan Hunt (123) saw Brightlingsea reach 356 for 2.
In reply, Mersea posted 62 with Mason (16), Swann (12) and Trevor Trout (10) the only Mersea players into double figures
