Match report The second match of the T30 campaign took place at Copford. Winning the toss, Ben Rumble's decision to field seemed justified as Joe Wyatt (1 for 16) and See Gladwell (1 for 20) both picked up early wickets in their opening bowling spells. However, the middle order then steadily built an innings for Copford, led by Alan Godley (58no). Tom Butler with a spell of 3 for 12 stemmed the flow of runs, but late order runs from Fulford (18) and number eleven Mallinson (20) got Copford up to 189 for 8.
In reply Mersea slipped to 24 for 4, of which Seb Gladwell scored 11. James Rutter battled well for an unbeaten 58, and with Tom Butler (23) added 40 for the seventh wicket. Mersea eventually reached 132 for 9 and defeat by 57 runs.
