Match report After five overs of this second eleven game with Elmstead 2nd it looked as though 'Cornetto's were go', as Mersea reached 35 for 2 - Matthew Taylor-Smith scoring 14 from 13 balls, made up of two fours and a six, and Jim Hall scoring 13 from 13 balls with three fours, making up the bulk of that 35. However, fifteen overs late the side were dismissed for 65, with Louis Elson and Graham Pryke the next highest scorers with 6 each, Pryke finally reaching the 12000 run milestone in the process.
Henry Gayton (1 for 18) gave the islanders an excellent start by claiming the opener for nought, but thereafter, Elmstead eased to a nine wicket success in 13 overs. Seb Gladwell bowled an economical spell of 0 for 10 from his 4 overs, and Matt Taylor-Smith was tidy behind the stumps.
